An employee at our Head Office in Barnstaple is celebrating after winning the national BMF (Builders Merchants Federation) Young Achiever Award for 2018.
Sarah Daniel, age 25, joined RGB as an apprentice in 2012. During her apprenticeship she gained knowledge and skills across many areas of the business, which included working in multiple branches (including outside in their yards), administration, customer services in the showroom and also trade counters, with Sarah now working in the product team at our Head Office.
Having developed extensive knowledge of the merchant sector, we created a new merchandising role for Sarah, giving her a full-time position once her apprenticeship had ended.
She implemented 'best practice' initiatives changing the views of Branch Managers and in view of the success of her ideas, Sarah received a promotion to Product Performance Controller in January 2018.
The BMF recognised Sarah's achievements and the positive impact her initiatives had on our branches by awarding her their Young Achiever Award.
Sarah commented: "We have a great team at RGB and everyone is always open to ideas about ways we can improve the experience our customers have. I was unaware that RGB had nominated me until I was named as a finalist, and I am shocked to have won the award, but of course delighted."
Keith Harris, Head of Procurement at RGB Building Supplies, added: "Congratulations to Sarah from everyone at RGB. Since joining the company, she has gone above and beyond in all her roles. With the ideas she implemented, she has gained the full respect of all her colleagues, and we're all delighted that Sarah's dedication and hard work has been recognised by the BMF."
Sarah was announced the winner of the BMF Young Achiever Award 2018 during a celebratory ceremony at St George's Park in Burton-Upon-Trent on Friday 28th September. In addition to being presented with the award, Sarah also received £2,000 and a trip to Berlin.
