Our Porthleven branch is thanking its customers and the local community for helping it raise £431 for Kidney Research UK in support of a colleague who is on the kidney transplant waiting list.
Kitchen Manager at RGB Porthleven Jamie Webb is currently undergoing regular dialysis and receiving invaluable support from Treliske Hospital in Truro. He wanted to do something to help the charity with its research into kidney disease.
To fundraise, the branch held a breakfast morning inviting customers to make a donation for a bacon roll.
Local businesses, including Wheal Dream Restaurant, The Hideaway Cafe, Ann's Pasties and The May Tree restaurant, also lent their support by providing vouchers for a raffle.
Jamie Webb commented: "Currently, there is no cure for kidney disease. The only option at the moment is to have a transplant, which is a huge commitment for everyone affected and their families. Kidney Research UK's aim is to have a world free of kidney disease, and like many other good causes, its projects are greatly under-funded.
"I'd like to thank the local businesses for providing prizes and all our customers who donated and contributed to helping the charity continue its life-saving work."
