Bideford’s The Pine Centre has been voted as a winner of our Surprise Supplies initiative and now has £1,000 to spend on materials at RGB Bideford.
We invited businesses from across the region that had been affected by the pandemic to get in touch and explain how a donation would help. Alongside Lanivet Community Centre in Bodmin, The Pine Centre received the most votes following a public poll and each business received a donation of £1,000.
The Pine Centre is a small family business run by Peta-Jane and Rupert Wise. They sell furniture and kitchens that are either made on site or are sourced from British manufacturers. Peta-Jane and Rupert will be using the donation to purchase materials to build a new display kitchen for the showroom, which will feature freestanding units to add to its range. It would also like to give the outside of the shop a spruce up.
Peta-Jane commented:
“Like many other businesses in the town, the pandemic meant we had to put some of our plans on hold, but the generous donation by RGB means we can get started with the new display and be able to offer our customers something fresh. We opened the shop 26 years ago this year and we have a developed a loyal customer base, and we’d like to thank them and everyone who voted for us, it’s greatly appreciated.”
Violet McKenzie-Pegg, Branch Manager at RGB Bideford, visited The Pine Centre to learn more about how the £1,000 will be used. She added:
“Congratulations to Peta-Jane and Rupert, we’re delighted to be supporting another local business. I’m looking forward seeing what they create with the materials.”
